Privacy Policy

Effective date: 10 July 2026
Last updated: 17 August 2026

In short

  • We collect what we need to run your account and save your boards and plans, plus basic device and diagnostic data to keep the app working and secure.
  • When you submit a link, we read its public content to identify place names and activity names. We do not take your images or log in to your social accounts.
  • We do not sell your personal information, we do not use it for advertising, and we do not use third-party advertising SDKs.

The sections below give the full detail.

1. Who we are

ReelPlans ("ReelPlans", "we", "us", "our") is a mobile application operated by ReelPlans, a corporation registered in Florida, United States. We are the data controller for the personal information described in this policy. It explains what we collect when you use the ReelPlans app, how we use it, who we share it with, and the rights you have over it.

If you have any questions about this policy, contact us at support@reelplans.com.

2. Scope

This policy applies to the ReelPlans mobile application and any related services we provide. It does not apply to the social media platforms or other third-party services you reach through ReelPlans. Those services have their own privacy policies, and we encourage you to read them.

3. What we collect

Information you give us

  • Account information. If you create an account, we collect your account details, such as your email address, and optional profile details you choose to add, such as a display name, your home city and country, and a list of countries you have visited. If you sign in through a third-party sign-in option, we receive the basic profile information that provider shares with us.
  • Links you submit. When you paste or share a link from a social media platform or other source, we receive that link and read the public content it points to in order to identify place names and activity names. We explain this in section 5.
  • Boards and plans you create. The boards, saved places, itineraries, and calendar events you build in the app.
  • Profile photo (optional). If you choose to set a profile photo, we access the specific photo you select. We only access photos you actively choose to upload, not your whole photo library.
  • Communications. If you contact our support team, we keep the messages you send and our replies.

Information collected automatically

  • Device and usage data. Device type, operating system version, app version, language, a random identifier created for your app installation, and general usage information such as features used and actions taken in the app.
  • Diagnostics. Crash reports and performance data to help us fix problems. These reports include your device's IP address but are not linked to your name or email address.
  • Analytics. Usage events such as screens viewed, features used, and app opens, linked to your account identifier and the app-install identifier so we can understand how the app is used and improve it. We do not record your sessions, and analytics events do not include the content you create or search for in the app.
  • Approximate location. We never access your device's location, and the app requests no location permission. Our analytics and diagnostics providers derive an approximate location (country or city) from your IP address.

What we do not collect

We want to be clear about this because it is central to how ReelPlans works:

  • We do not log in to your social media accounts, and we never ask for your social media passwords.
  • We do not copy, store, or reuse the images from the posts or reels you share with us.
  • We identify only place names and activity names from the public content a link points to. The images you see in ReelPlans are sourced and licensed by us separately, not taken from your source content.

4. How we use your information

We use the information we collect to:

  • provide the core service, including reading links you submit to identify place and activity names and recreating them as saveable items;
  • let you organise items into boards, build itineraries, and add events to a calendar;
  • maintain your account and sync your boards across your devices;
  • respond to your support requests;
  • monitor, diagnose, and fix technical problems, and improve the app;
  • detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents; and
  • comply with our legal obligations.

Where the law requires a legal basis (for example under UK and EU rules), we rely on: performance of our contract with you to provide the service; our legitimate interests in understanding how the app is used, securing it, and improving it; and your consent where we ask for it for optional features.

We do not use your information for advertising, we do not use third-party advertising SDKs, and we collect device and diagnostic data only to run, secure, debug, and improve the app, never for ad targeting.

5. How we process the links you submit

When you submit a link, we retrieve the publicly available content at that link and process it, including with AI, to identify place names and activity names. We use that processing only to identify places and activities, and it does not include your account credentials, email address, or profile information. We do not retain the source content as permanent media after processing completes, and we do not access anything that is not publicly available at the link you provide. We then look up the identified places to find and display our own licensed images and details. You are responsible for only submitting links you are entitled to use. See our Terms of Service for more on this.

6. When we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only in these situations:

  • Service providers. We use trusted, enterprise-grade service providers to host and run the app, to process the links you submit, to provide maps and place data, and to keep the app secure and reliable. For security and commercial reasons we do not name individual providers. They may only use data to provide services to us, on our instructions.
  • Other users, at your direction. If you create a share link for a board or plan, anyone who has that link can view the content of that board or plan until you stop sharing it.
  • Aggregated trends. We may show links that are popular across all users (for example, trending imports). These are aggregated and carry no information about who imported them.
  • Legal reasons. If required by law, regulation, legal process, or a valid government request, or to protect the rights, safety, and property of ReelPlans, our users, or others.
  • Business transfers. If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will tell you if your information becomes subject to a different policy.

7. Third-party content

Place and activity details in ReelPlans may originate from public sources and from data providers we work with. This information can be incomplete or out of date, and we do not guarantee its accuracy. ReelPlans is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any social media platform or other third-party service referenced in the app.

8. Where your data is stored and processed

ReelPlans is available globally. Your information is stored and processed in the United States and in other countries where our service providers operate. These countries may have data protection laws that differ from those in your country. Where we transfer personal data out of the UK, EU, or other regions with transfer restrictions, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.

9. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have some or all of the following rights:

  • access the personal information we hold about you;
  • correct information that is inaccurate;
  • delete your information;
  • object to or restrict certain processing;
  • withdraw consent where we rely on it; and
  • receive a copy of your information in a portable format.

If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you have these rights under the GDPR and UK GDPR. EEA users can complain to their national data protection authority (find yours via edpb.europa.eu); UK users can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).

If you are a California resident, you have rights under the CCPA and CPRA, including the right to know, delete, and correct your information, and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights. We do not sell or share your personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising.

If you live in another US state with a comprehensive privacy law (such as Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Texas, Florida, Oregon, and a growing number of others), you may have similar rights to access, correct, delete, and obtain a copy of your information, and to opt out of targeted advertising, sale, or profiling. We do not sell your information, share it for targeted advertising, or use it for that kind of profiling.

Users in other countries may have similar rights under local law, including Australia (Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles), Malaysia (PDPA), India (DPDP Act 2023), and others. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at support@reelplans.com. You can delete your account at any time from within the app (Profile -> Advanced -> Delete account), or, if you no longer have the app, by emailing us from your account's email address; we verify ownership by sender address and complete the deletion within 30 days. You can also ask us to delete specific data without closing your account. Deletion removes your account data subject to the retention periods below.

10. Children

ReelPlans is not directed to children. You must be at least 16 years old to use the app. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it. Some countries set a higher minimum age for consent to data processing, and you must meet the minimum age in your country.

11. Data retention

We keep information only as long as we need it:

  • Account and profile: until you delete your account.
  • Boards, saved places, and itineraries: until you delete them or your account.
  • Links submitted for processing: the source content is processed transiently and is not retained as permanent media after processing completes.
  • Cached place imagery: up to 30 days.
  • Diagnostic and error logs: up to 90 days.
  • Usage analytics: until you delete your account, at which point we delete your analytics identity and the events linked to it.
  • Encrypted backups: residual copies may remain in encrypted backups for up to 90 days after deletion, after which they are purged.

When you delete your account, we delete or anonymise your personal information within 30 days, except where we need to keep it longer to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements.

12. Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including secure authentication, encryption in transit, and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a personal data breach is likely to affect your rights, we will notify you and the relevant authority as required by law.

13. Push notifications

We do not currently send push notifications. If we add them in the future, we will ask for your permission first, and you will be able to turn them off at any time in your device settings.

14. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you in the app or by other reasonable means and update the "Last updated" date above. Continuing to use ReelPlans after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
